Open Call! Sculpture in Practice, A Summer Intensive for Teens

July 13 @ 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

An Open Call to Sculpture in Practice, A Summer Intensive for Teens, is officially open!  Masterworks Museum, Course Leader Katarina Hoskins, and programme sponsor LOM are proud to invite emerging artists aged 13–19 to apply to take part in an exciting two-week sculpture intensive course.  This hands-on, materials-led programme is designed to push your creativity into three dimensions. Whether you paint, draw, photograph, or haven’t made art in a while, this course will open up a whole new world of making.

What Is the Course About?
Over ten sessions across two weeks, you will explore the art of sculpture from the ground up. The first week is all about experimentation — getting to know materials, making mistakes, discovering what excites you. The second week is yours to develop and realise a finished piece for a public exhibition at the end of the programme.

You will work with:
– Clay – modelling, hand-building, form-making
– Plaster – mixing, pouring, carving, surface finishing
– Alginate & Modroc – life-casting and body moulding
– Latex – exploring texture, skin and surface
– Wire – structure, armature, line in space
– Resin – casting and experimentation

No experience with these materials is required – only curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to try.

Facilitators:

Course Leader: Katarina Hoskins
Our course leader, she is a sculptor and artist currently completing her BA in Fine Art at the Art Academy London, where her practice centres on feminist sculpture – using materials such as concrete, bronze, steel, resin, latex, and plaster.
Originally from Austria and long based in Bermuda, Katarina brings to this programme not only her training and studio practice but a deep personal commitment to Bermuda’s arts community. A former board member of Masterworks Museum and founder of International Women’s Day Bermuda, she has spent years championing arts access and education on the island. This summer intensive is her way of bringing the skills and perspectives she has gained in London home — and placing them directly in the hands of the next generation of Bermudian artists.
