Ceramics Studio is an open studio space for ceramicists to meet up and access equipment to throw, sculpt and fire their work. This space is open to people who have taken Shaping the Basics with Blair Masters or can prove similar experience. While studio members are encouraged to guide and support each other, creative independence is required.
Run by a community of ceramicists, the Ceramics Studio is open from 5-8pm each Thursday.
Here’s how it works:
– 9 potter’s wheels are available.
– 3 spaces at a hand-building table are available.
– 12 memberships are available for each month.
– The potter’s wheels are available on a first-come, first serve basis. Members may be able to share potter’s wheel access as agreed between them.
– Firings are charged at $1 per lb of greenware and bisqueware
– Members weigh and record the weight of each piece on a slip of paper and attach to their piece.
– Members should have their own hand tools. Toolkits can be purchased for $15 per pack.
Membership registration process:
– Ceramics Studio membership is offered on a monthly basis.
– Registration for each month’s studio membership will open on the 21st of the month before. For example, August Membership registration will open on July 21st.
– If members have ready-to-fire pieces at the end of their membership, their pieces will still be fired in the next scheduled firing.
Studio guidelines:
– We are a mid-fire studio; only clay in Masterworks’ inventory are permitted in the studio.
– Members can purchase studio clay from our inventory for $50 per 25lb bag.
– Only glazes in Masterworks’ inventory are permitted in the studio
– Studio storage is limited. Please plan to pack your clay and tools in and out each week.
