In His Image by Larussy Romero Rick Faries Gallery | August 8 – September 9, 2025

Known for pieces that blur the line between art and personal reflection, Larussy Romero’s latest body of work draws on themes of identity and spiritual transformation. ‘This year, I chose to work on myself,’ she shares. ‘Not just creatively, but spiritually.’ A personal journey of self-exploration led to the creation of seventeen new pieces, each one rooted in spiritual core values.

In His Image opens in the Rick Faries Gallery on Friday, August 8 with a reception from 5:30 – 7pm.

The following artist biography and statement are shared in the artist’s own words:

Artist Biography: ‘Larussy Romero is a fluid abstract artist whose work is rooted in faith, identity, and spiritual reflection. Her creative journey is a walk with God—guided by the belief that art is not just expression, but revelation. Each piece is a visual prayer, born from personal surrender, sacred scripture, and the deep knowing that she was created in His image. ‘She explores themes of inner growth, emotional healing, and divine presence—often inspired by quiet moments with the Holy Spirit and the ever-unfolding fruits of the Spirit. Her work invites viewers to return to themselves, and in doing so, return to God. ‘Her second solo exhibition celebrates the spiritual DNA we carry as reflections of the Creator. Her pieces do not ask for attention—they offer permission: to heal, to remember, to become.’

Artist Statement:

‘I chose to work on myself.
Not to become someone new—
but to return to who I’ve always been in Him.
To walk with the Holy Spirit.
To surrender.

I asked God to place a voice on my path,
a guide who could speak to where my spirit was sitting.
He sent Dr. Saudia Bean.
She looked into me and said:
“You were created in His image.”
(Genesis 1:27 – So God created mankind in His own image…)

That truth opened me.

If I am made in His image,
then the fruits of the Spirit are not something I need to chase.
They are already within me.
They are my nature—my DNA.

Galatians 5:22-23 –
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

These pieces are not aspirations.
They are reminders.
Anchors.
Reflections of who I am—because of who He is.

Love (1 John 4:8 – God is love)
Joy (Nehemiah 8:10 – The joy of the Lord is your strength)
Peace (Isaiah 26:3 – You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast)
Patience (Romans 12:12 – Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer)
Kindness (Ephesians 4:32 – Be kind and compassionate to one another)
Goodness (Psalm 23:6 – Surely Your goodness and mercy will follow me)
Faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23 – Great is Your faithfulness)
Gentleness (Proverbs 15:1 – A gentle answer turns away wrath)
Self-Control (2 Timothy 1:7 – God gave us a spirit… of self-control)

This work is my thank-you.
To the Spirit that lives within.
To the Word that never left me.
To the God who created me to reflect Him—

This is not just art.
This is identity.
This is image.’
