SUMMARY:Family Workshop: Photo Embroidery with Teresa Ruiz
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Visions of the Vernacular workshop space with artist Teresa Ruiz for an immersive workshop where you will learn to bring your photographs to life by hand-stitching directly into them. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring a personal photograph; a meaningful place\, building or landscape\, and learn how to reanimate it using vibrant threads and unique embroidery patterns. Teresa will guide you through the delicate technique of piercing the photo and introduce you to basic and creative stitching methods. \nWhether you are an experienced artist or a curious beginner\, this class offers a meditative and innovative way to reclaim your images. By the end of the workshop\, you will take home a one-of-a-kind piece of art and the skills to continue exploring this captivating medium. \nFacilitator: Teresa Ruiz \nRuiz is a Spanish visual artist based in Bermuda whose practice redefines analogue photography through the lens of fibre art. Using 35mm film as her canvas\, she intervenes in the image with hand-stitched embroidery\, transforming static captures into tactile\, vibrant narratives. \nDate: Saturday\, June 13\, 2026 \nTime: 10:00am – 12:00pm \nClass Size: Maximum of 10 participants to ensure individualized attention and a supportive environment \nAge groups: All ages welcome; Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult \nSkill Level: All levels welcome \nLocation: Mezzanine Gallery @ Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art \nWorkshop Fee: $75 Members/$125 Non-members; under 18 bursary application here. \nMaterials: All supplies provided. SUMMARY:Family Workshop: Introduction to Perspective Drawing with John Gardner
DESCRIPTION:Discover how artists create the illusion of depth\, space\, and scale through perspective drawing. We’ll explore the history of perspective and composition before diving into practical drawing exercises that experiment with varied viewpoints and ways of seeing. Along the way\, students will analyze drawings in real time\, discuss their ideas\, and develop their own work. \nDate: Saturday\, July 11\, 2026 \nTime: 10am-12pm \nFacilitator: John Gardner\nJohn is a highly regarded and prolific three-dimensional visualizer\, creator\, designer\, and architect. His multidisciplinary work includes leading an international architecture practice\, planning large sites\, designing buildings and objects\, fabricating stained-glass windows\, creating sculptures and major installations\, painting\, drawing  and sketching extensively while flying and traveling. His work is collected.
