Students will be introduced to the power of balance—both visual and conceptual. DESCRIPTION:Join international artist\, Eli Cedrone on a creative and inspiring new class! \nEli will guide and encourage you to make beautiful and satisfying work. Through the use of collage\, participants will use various methods to make small art works that hold personal meaning. Works will explore design\, color\, texture\, and mark making. Participants will develop ways to portray meaning and memory through visual storytelling. \nThis workshop set is suitable for all levels\, adults and teens 16+ to learn: \n\nTo create collages inspired by personal memory\, texts\, and ephemeral items\nTo use a range of materials including paper\, fabric\, and prepared surfaces\nExplore basic drawing & mark making techniques\nTo use storytelling and memory to inspire the creative process\n\nDuration: 4-week series\, meeting each Wednesday for 2 hours \nDates: Wednesdays: July 3 – 24\, 2024 \nTime: 6:00pm – 8:00pm \nClass Size: Maximum of 10 participants to ensure individualized attention and a supportive environment. \nLocation: Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art’s Classroom (and surrounding gardens) \nMaterials provided: Art supplies provided such as prepared boards and paper\, printed materials (magazines\, books\, newspaper)\, color swatches\, fabric scraps\, paints\, brushes\, glue and tape. \nWorkshop preparation:  Bring a personal sketch or mixed-media book for individual work. \nWorkshop participants are asked to collect and collate materials such as photos and objects that hold meaning for you (texts can range from personal letters\, travel tickets\, shopping lists\, song lyrics\, and poetry) – these will be cut up\, so you may wish to bring copies rather than originals. DESCRIPTION:Join us for this rare opportunity to learn with John Hartman\, celebrated Canadian artist renowned for his innovative landscape paintings inspired by both Canada and abroad.\n\nHartman will teach a 4-hour class on outdoor sketching with watercolours\, using small-scale\, portable materials and working quickly to record the light and shapes before they change. This class is open to beginners and also artists who are already familiar with watercolour painting.\n\nDate: Tuesday\, April 30\, 2024\nTime: 10:00am – 3:00pm (12:00pm – 1:00pm lunch break)\nLocation: Art Classroom at Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art\nMaterials: Materials provided; Participants are welcome to bring and use their preferred watercolour paints and brushes\, and paper.\nSpecial note if you are bringing your own kit:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBring as small and as compact a kit as possible\nTwo to three sheets of 140lb watercolour paper\, either hot pressed or regular but not rough\nPaper sheet size should be around 10 x 12 inches\, no larger.\nWatercolour pigments squeezed out and dried in a palette container\nProper watercolour brushes\, sable preferred: a #6\, a #8 and a 1 inch Chinese soft hair brush\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSupport for this event is graciously provided by the Christian Humann Foundation.
