SUMMARY:Ceramics Studio June Membership
DESCRIPTION:Ceramics Studio is an open studio space for ceramicists to meet up and access equipment to throw\, sculpt and create at their own pace. This space is open to people who have taken Shaping the Basics with Blair Masters or can prove similar experience. While studio members are encouraged to guide and support each other\, creative independence is required. \nRun by a community of ceramicists\, the Ceramics Studio is open from 5-8pm each Thursday. \nHere’s how it works:\n– 9 potter’s wheels are available.\n– 3 spaces at a hand-building table are available.\n– 12 memberships are available for each month.\n– The potter’s wheels are available on a first-come\, first serve basis. Members may be able to share potter’s wheel access as agreed between them.\n– Firings are charged at $1 per lb of greenware and bisqueware\n– Members weigh and record the weight of each piece on a slip of paper and attach to their piece.\n– Members should have their own hand tools.  Toolkits can be purchased for $15 per pack. \nMembership registration process:\n– Ceramics Studio membership is offered on a monthly basis.\n– Registration for each month’s studio membership will open on the 21st of the month before. For example\, August Membership registration will open on July 21st.\n– If members have ready-to-fire pieces at the end of their membership\, their pieces will still be fired in the next scheduled firing. \nStudio guidelines:\n– We are a mid-fire studio; only clay in Masterworks’ inventory are permitted in the studio.\n– Members can purchase studio clay from our inventory for $50 per 25lb bag.\n– Only glazes in Masterworks’ inventory are permitted in the studio\n– Studio storage is limited. Please plan to pack your clay and tools in and out each week. \nDuration: Ongoing\, meeting each Thursday \nTime: 5-8pm \nAge group: Adults and teens 16+ \nSkill level: Must have completed Shaping the Basics with Blair Masters or provide proof of similar experience. \nLocation: Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art’s Classroom \nMaterials provided: Equipment available for use; tools and consumables available for purchase \nAre you interested in joining Ceramic Studio but don’t know where to start? DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Visions of the Vernacular workshop space with artist Teresa Ruiz for an immersive workshop where you will learn to bring your photographs to life by hand-stitching directly into them. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring a personal photograph; a meaningful place\, building or landscape\, and learn how to reanimate it using vibrant threads and unique embroidery patterns. Teresa will guide you through the delicate technique of piercing the photo and introduce you to basic and creative stitching methods. \nWhether you are an experienced artist or a curious beginner\, this class offers a meditative and innovative way to reclaim your images. By the end of the workshop\, you will take home a one-of-a-kind piece of art and the skills to continue exploring this captivating medium. \nFacilitator: Teresa Ruiz \nRuiz is a Spanish visual artist based in Bermuda whose practice redefines analogue photography through the lens of fibre art. Whether you paint\, draw\, photograph\, or haven’t made art in a while\, this course will open up a whole new world of making. \nWhat Is the Course About?Over ten sessions across two weeks\, you will explore the art of sculpture from the ground up. The first week is all about experimentation — getting to know materials\, making mistakes\, discovering what excites you. SUMMARY:Ceramics: Hand Building with Blair Masters
DESCRIPTION:This six-week course offers an in-depth exploration of ceramic hand–building techniques\, from pinching and coiling to slab construction and surface design. Open to all levels\, the course is especially well suited for students looking to develop or deepen their ceramic practice through a structured\, hands-on studio experience. \nLed by Blair Masters\, students will learn to create both functional and sculptural forms while developing confidence in a variety of traditional and contemporary hand–building methods. \n\nWeeks 1-3: Participants will explore foundational techniques including slab building\, coiling\, and surface decoration\, while being encouraged to experiment with their own ideas and creative direction. Demonstrations will include approaches to texture\, form\, and composition\, as well as decorative processes using slips\, oxides\, underglazes\, and carving techniques.\nWeek 4: Reserved to fire the student works to bisqueware. The class will not meet this week.\nWeek 5: Students return to glaze their work\, exploring glazing techniques and color application to complete their finished surfaces.\nWeek 6: Concludes with the glaze firing. The class will not meet this week.\n\nBy the end of the course\, each participant will have completed at least one ceramic piece from concept to finished form\, while gaining practical experience across the full ceramic process. SUMMARY:Kids' Art Summer Camp | Week 8
DESCRIPTION:We’re gearing up for a summer of printmaking\, collage\, painting\, pastel drawing\, and nature-based art and activity. Young artists can expect to spend half the day in the indoors and half the day outdoors in the Dye and Fibre Arts Garden and the wider Botanical Gardens. \nCamp Duration: 8 weeks; June 29 – July 24 and August 3 – 28 \nCamp Dates: \n\nWeek 1  June 29 – July 3\nWeek 2: July 6 – 10\nWeek 3: July 13 – 17\nWeek 4: July 20 – 24\nWeek 5: August 3 – 7\nWeek 6: August 10 – 14\nWeek 7: August 17 – 21\nWeek 8: August 24 – 28\n\nTime: 8:30am – 5:00pm daily \nClass Size: Maximum of 12 participants to ensure individualized attention and a supportive environment. \nAge Group: Children aged 6-12 years \nLocation: Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art\, in the Art Classroom \nMaterials: All necessary art supplies provided. \nGuest Artists: Whenever possible we will invite artists and/or performers to share their expertise and artistic perspectives. \nField Trips: Camp includes visits to Masterworks’ wider Museum and Gallery spaces as well as the Botanical Gardens. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImportant reminder: A cancellation must be made 14 days before the registration program start date to receive a refund.  No refund will be given within 14 days of the program date. \nPlease note Masterworks Members have priority registration starting April 1 with Non-member tickets opening on April 15.  Interested in becoming a Masterworks Member? This workshop or similar experience is a prerequisite for joining Print Shop each month. \nIn this workshop you’ll get acquainted with our Print Shop set up\, tools and equipment and gain the confidence you need to make your printmaking projects a reality.
